SERPE4HAB

Smart gesture recognition printed sensors for habitat

Post-Covid, we are rethinking the way we interact with the surfaces of common use objects as a society, especially in high-traffic areas. We come from innovation scenarios where the trend for interaction between the user and the product was generally through touch surfaces or direct contact buttons, but at this moment part of the population does not feel comfortable touching the surfaces of these objects directly, even developing some type of phobia.

The main objective of the SERPE4HAB project is to build upon the results of the previous feasibility study, focused on gesture recognition, through the implementation of Artificial Intelligence algorithms with digital output in housing sector products with the goal of adapting them to the new needs detected in the market.

We are making progress in using hybrid and flexible electronics to solve these problems, including the use of gesture recognition technology through artificial intelligence (AI). We are applying this technology to the construction sector, adapting housing products to the new needs detected in the market making them intelligent objects, capable of integrating into the Internet of Things (IoT). Also, we are implementating a pilot test with the partner companies of the clusters, to incorporate artificial intelligence into current products and thus facilitate the creation of new products with higher added value. Rotimpres will develop industrial-scale sensing as part of the goals that this project will achieve.

We consider the described technological concept to have enormous potential because it combines a clear technological leap, which has been demanded for years, with the new need to maximize hygiene and avoid contacts in order to eliminate or minimize as much as possible the spread of microbes that can lead us to situations like the humanitarian and economic disaster we have experienced globally.
